Google Adsense
Google Adsense its a great option for small retail buisnesses to make a little extra cash. Its extremely simple and quick to start up an Google Adsense account. It both has its advantages and disadvantages, but its always great to have a look it; whether you decide to use it or not, its up to you.
What is Google Adsense?
Google Adsense is actually the opposite of Google Adword. Instead of Adversiting your site on with Google Adword, you put advertisement on your site in Google Adsense. You'll see it all over this site, since i myself use it to cover some of the cost of maintain this site.
How does it Work?
The way it works is very straight forward and simple. You place google ads on your site and whenever any vistors from your site clicks on the ad, google will give you a commission of (Cost Per Click). The commission varies depending on the popluarity of the keyword, and they can range from anywhere from around from a few cents to even dollars. Through my experience they are generally around the 10-25 cents, but like said before it varies greatly from the popluarity of the keyword.
For Example typically keywords to do with Porn and Gambling are pretty high, where as if your keyword is something like "Pet Ants" the chances is that you will only get a few cents for a keyword like that.
Now you may ask what determines which kind of ads will be on your site. The answer to this is that google determines the ads that go on your site and that is determined through the content of your site. Like the ads below here will change through time but they will most likely to be related to Google Adsense.
If a vistor, who is interested in one of the Ads decides to click on the Ad, it will redirect the vistor away from your site to the Advertisers designated landing page. Google will then give you a commission for refering a potenial customer to that site. As you may notice somethings the blue link below the ads is not also necessary where the you are directed since, the adverstier may have designated a different landing page than the one displayed.
Should i use Google Adsense?
The decision is ultimatly yours, but we'll sum everything up so hopefully your make the best decision for your online buisness. The Great things about Google Adsense is that its free, and it can earn you a little bit of extra cash. The setup is fast and can easily be customized to blend to your site. Its generally great option for most small online retailers, but theres a few things that you need to consider. Using Google Adsense means you will have ads on your site, which may or may not be distracting to your vistors. Not only this but when a vistor clicks on a ad it will redirect the user to another site meaning they will no longer be on your site.
